The Watchdog Security Pet Door Cover is not a pet door; it is a cover that fits over an existing dog door. These covers come with a combination lock with over 10,000 possible combinations and tamper resistant hardware to prevent a thief from crawling through your pet door. This product is particularly handy for snowbirds who aren't in their homes 6 months out of the year or for vacation homes, but can be used anywhere the need for increased security exists. The cover is made in the USA using 12 gauge welded steel for the frame and the door. The barrel hinges are also welded, and the door is formed to make the frame very difficult to pry off of a wall. 

 
The manufacturer suggests installing on the outside of the home, as it will then be installed on the tougher exterior surface of the wall instead of the interior drywall, and also for its deterrent effect; the mere sight of the security cover might make a burglar move on to the next house. These security covers come with a powdercoated white finish and the lock itself is fastened to the door with stainless rivets, each capable of withstanding 800 psi of pressure. The owner can easily remove the door portion from its hinges for separate storage. Comes in three sizes to fit most of the bigger pet doors on the market. Sizing dimensions are a bit odd. To size these covers, you need to make sure that the exterior of your pet door frame will fit under the cover. For instance, the large size will fit over pet doors that have an outside frame dimension of 15 ½" wide x 21 ½" tall x ½ " deep or smaller.     Pretty easy to install. Due to circumstances, I wasn't able to remove the door from the hinges for the installation. The watchdog still went in easily. I feel much safer.
