REPLACEMENT FLAPS
Pet Safe Classic Parts
- These doors have been on the market for many years and sold under different names such as Greater Freedom, Pet Eze, Deluxe 81, and Instafit
The Pet Safe company bought the Pet-Eze company a few years back. They have continued manufacturing Pet-Eze doors, although they are now called Pet Safe Classic. These are single vinyl flaps with flexible "skirts" down each side of the flaps. Magnets are embedded in the rubber at the bottom of the flap to hold it shut. Small, Medium, and Medium tall have two magnets imbedded in the rubber. Large sizes have three magnets, and Extra Large have four. The only design change Pet Safe has implemented is a tinting of the clear flaps. Other than tint, the flaps are exactly the same. Pet-Eze also sold their products under the names Greater Freedom, and Deluxe 81.
Attention Pet Eze Owners- when Pet Safe bought out Pet Eze they changed the frame design a little bit, and they no longer provide instructions on how to properly install these flaps in Pet Eze doors. The new Pet Safe doors have a "floating magnet bar" and the old Pet Eze had a manually adjusted bar. The magnet bar is directly underneath the flap, its magnets attract the magnets in the flap. The magnet bar is about 1/2" wide and usually sticks up about 1/8" higher than the rest of the frame. At first glance it looks like the frame is all one piece. It isn't; the center part moves, and what you will need to do is grab the bar on the ends with a pair of pliers and wiggle and pull and it will adjust up out of the frame and you can make it fit your new flap tightly. If you get your flap and it is 1/4" too short, don't worry, it is the right part and you can make it work. All that is needed is to pull the bar up to hit the bottom of the flap.
