Frame thickness is about 5/8" across, the end adjuster pieces that plug into the window track on the ends are about 1" thick.

Ideal has come up with a sash window style pet door with a spring loaded adjuster on both ends. This gives it a wider adjustment range than the Thermo Sash II. Available in all sizes to fit anything from cats to Saint Bernards, this window mount pet door will get the job done inexpensively. This door is fine for temperate climates, if you live in an area where it gets really hot or really cold, or if your house is very energy efficient and you want an efficient pet door, we suggest you look at the Thermo Sash or Optiview doors.

This particular sash pet door is unique in that the pet door is mounted in the middle with a small window on either side.

The Ideal Fast Sash is an inexpensive and easy to install sash window pet door. It has a limited lifetime warranty and is made in Thailand. If you are in an area where you don't have a lot of weather it will do a decent enough job. If you live where it gets very cold or very hot, we suggest that you choose a different door.
